Estonian pianist Piret Väinmaa
performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, works as a
collaborative pianist in different projects and organises chamber
music events. Piret Väinmaa has a PhD in music from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (2012, prof Ivari Ilja, prof Margus Pärtlas). Her doctoral thesis is about the Estonian composer
Eduard Tubin: "Comparison of the manuscripts of Eduard Tubin´s 2nd
Piano Sonata from the performer´s point of view". She has written articles and reviews for the Estonian cultural newspapers and music magazines and made radio programs for the National Broadcast Company ERR (Klassikaraadio). 

In 2002,  Piret Väinmaa was one of the pianists forming a unique group of 8 outstanding concert pianists, The Estonian Piano Orchestra . The Estonian Piano Orchestra has
premiered works by Gavin Bryars, John de Simone and Estonian composers Jaan Rääts, Ülo Krigul, Peeter Vähi, Jüri Reinvere, Rein Rannap, René Eespere and Urmas Sisask.
In January 2017 Piret Väinmaa performed within the Estonian Piano Orchestra in the Conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in New York where the group was presented by the Estonian State Concert Foundation Eesti Kontsert. In July 2017 The Estonian Piano Orchestra was invited to perform in Warsaw Festival Ogrody Musyczne, dedicated to the opening of the Estonian EU-Presidency.
Piret Väinmaa performs regularly in a piano duo with Lauri Väinmaa and with the singer Kädy Plaas-Kala and cellist Aare Tammesalu. Recent concerts in Tallinn and
St Petersbourg presented works by Samuel Barber, André Previn, Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert.
In 2016 and 2017, Piret Väinmaa worked as a collaborative pianist in the theatrical project Midsummer Nights´ Dream in Theatre No99 in Tallinn, Estonia (conductor Olari Elts, directors Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper).
Piret Väinmaa teaches piano, collaborative piano and chamber music in Georg Ots Tallinn Music College where she works as a head of chamber music studies since 2016.
She is also regularly giving summer courses of chamber music.  Piret Väinmaa is the
secretary and treasurer of the European Chamber Music Teachers´ Association,
member of the Association of Estonian Professional Musicians (http://interpreet.ee/eesti-interpreetide-liit/interpreedid/piret-vainmaa/), Eduard Tubin Society, Estonian Piano Teachers Association and a board member of the Estonian Chamber Music
Teachers´Association "In Corpore" that organises annual youth chamber music courses in Estonia.

Piret Väinmaa on on esinenud solisti ja kammermuusikuna Ameerika Ühendriikides, 
Hiinas, Inglismaal, Saksamaal, Soomes, Lätis ja Eestis, solistina Eesti Muusikaakadeemia Sümfooniaorkestri ja Eesti Riikliku Sümfooniaorkestri ees. Ta on avaldanud
muusikaalaseid artikleid ja arvustusi kultuurilehes “SIRP” ning ajakirjas “Muusika” ja koostanud raadiosaateid „Klassikaraadiole“. Alates 2002. a. esineb P. Väinmaa
klaveriduos koos pianist Lauri Väinmaaga ning 2002. aastal loodud Klaveriorkestri koosseisus. Tema koostööpartneriteks on olnud teiste hulgas puhkpillikvintett Estica ning Tallinna Klaveriduo. 
Piret Väinmaa kaitses doktorikraadi Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemias aastal 2012, juendajateks prof Ivari Ilja ja prof Margus Pärtlas. P. Väinmaa doktoritöö teema oli
"Eduard Tubina 2. klaverisonaadi allikate võrdlus interpreedi vaatepunktist".
Hooajal 2016/2017 esines Piret Väinmaa Eesti Klaveriorkestri koosseisus ülemaailmsel etenduskunstide messil New Yorgis Eesti Kontserdi ja Kultuuriministeeriumi koostöös korraldatud presentatsioonil, Varssavis Muusikaliste Aedade festivalil  ning klaveriduos koos Lauri Väinmaaga Eesti Kontserdi sarjas „Romantiline klaver“ Peterburis Jaani kirikus, esitades Brahmsi, Schuberti ja Massenet´loomingut.  Hooajal 2016/2017 esines Piret Väinmaa ka koos laulja Kädy Plaas-Kala ja tšellist Aare Tammesaluga Tallinnas Kadrioru lossis "Lossimuusika" sarjas, esitades kava Eesti ja Ameerika
kammermuusikast (Barber, Previn, Mägi, Uusberg).
